Now that it is more or less certain that Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's son Jaganmohan Reddy will contest next Lok Sabha elections from Kadapa, political observers are keenly watching whether he would be confined only to his constituency.

The Congress ranks have been bringing pressure on him to enter politics in a big way, rather than as a mere candidate from Kadapa. They are asking the Chief Minister to provide a prominent post for Jagan in the Pradesh Congress Committee, either as a general secretary or Youth Congress Committee president, so that he would play a bigger role in the Congress by providing the much needed impetus to the party.

However, PCC sources said YSR does not want his son to garner all the attention at a time, since he is still new to politics. Moreover, Sonia Gandhi might not be liking the idea of encouraging both father and son to dominate the party in the State, since it would create a fresh bout of dissidence in the party.

So, for the time being, Jagan would make a quiet entry into politics and over a period of time, might be a successor to YSR. But will his supporters like the idea?
